OSA Celebrates Guidance Awareness Month with a Series of Activities

With the theme “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself: A Journey towards True Self,” the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) through the Guidance Services Unit (GSU) held a series of activities this March in celebration of Guidance Awareness Month. The celebration kicked off on March 3, 2025, at the CLSU Multi-Purpose Gym where OSA Guidance Counselors, Mental Health Advocates, and College Guidance Coordinators were introduced, followed by a motorcade around the campus. Dr. Irene G. Bustos, OSA Dean, reiterated that the Guidance Awareness Month Celebration has been one of the major programs of their office and is anticipated by students each year. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella expressed his support by recognizing the indispensable role of OSA in promoting mental health at the University. Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Chrisdell C. Munsayac, GSU Head, led the guidance activities such as Seminars, Radio Guesting, Wellness Wednesday, and Yoga Sessions conducted at the college and university levels through the concerted efforts of OSA Personnel, College Guidance Coordinators, student leaders, peer facilitators, and other student volunteers. Indeed, these activities provided students, faculty, and staff with an opportunity to refocus, recharge, and prioritize their mental well-being, raise awareness, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. IAO Mobility Chief Completes IZN Mgmt Workshop in Germany as DAAD Scholar

Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo, Chief of the Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Unit at the International Affairs Office, completed the first workshop of the Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) Management of Internationalization (MoI) Program for the 2025-2026 cohort held on March 10 to 19, 2025 at Leibniz Universität Hannover and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) headquarters in Germany. Selected from over 160 applicants across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, Dr. Ubaldo was one of the 30 internationalization leaders chosen for this 18-month hybrid professional development program. This supraregional initiative aimed at supporting universities in developing and emerging countries in managing internationalization efforts, with an equal distribution of 10 participants per region. The program targets higher education professionals responsible for coordinating international activities at their home institutions. It is jointly organized by Leibniz Universität Hannover, the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), and DAAD, with funding support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and collaboration with regional university partners in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Dr. Ubaldo views the program as a strategic opportunity to enhance his expertise as an international relations officer, benchmark innovative mobility initiatives, learn from his peers, and gain insights from global experts to advance CLSU’s internationalization activities. The in-person workshop in Germany marked the first of three interconnected sessions of the DIES Management of Internationalization Program, with Dr. Ubaldo set to continue with a second in-person workshop in Manipal, India, for the Asian cohort in October 2025, followed by a final virtual session in March 2026, where participants will share progress on their internationalization projects. A core component of the program is the development of a tailored internationalization project, where participants set goals, create roadmaps, and track progress while enhancing their management and intercultural skills and expanding their global networks. For his project, Dr. Ubaldo will focus on enhancing the student mobility mechanism at Central Luzon State University by streamlining current processes and developing innovative approaches, aiming to improve efficiency, increase student participation in global exchanges, and foster stronger international partnerships. Since the launch of the DIES MoI program in 2013, two Filipinos have completed it, with two currently participating in this cohort, reflecting its selective nature. CLSU Equips Retiring Philippine Army Personnel with Aquaculture Training

Fostering the livelihood transition of retiring military personnel, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through its Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC), conducted a two-day aquaculture training under the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Seminar on Fish Farming and Business for the Light Reaction Regiment (LRR) of the Philippine Army (PA). This was initiated by Personnel Officer Maj. Melvin Allan T. Medrano (INF) PA, Assistant Personnel Officer Capt. Jeff C. Visaya (INF) PA, and TSg. Noly V. Cailing (AGS) PA. Thirty-five (35) retiring and active personnel from LRR joined the said training held on March 18-19, 2025 at Damian Hall, LRR, PA in Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, and in CLSU FAC, Science City of Munoz, respectively. Experts from the FAC and College of Fisheries (CF) delivered a series of lectures on the basics of aquaculture and fish culture. Dr. Alvin T. Reyes, Mr. Eddie Boy T. Jimenez, Asst. Professor Lara Millen S. Pengson led the discussions, covering topics such as aquaculture principles, tilapia farming, and catfish production. The interactive lectures provided participants with insights into fish farming operations, including breeding techniques and pond management. Practical training sessions were also held at FAC where participants were welcomed by the Center Director and Catfish Technical Expert, Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon, and led them to the Catfish Facility. Mr. Ruel E. Gabiles conducted a hands-on demonstration on the induced spawning of catfish, giving the participants valuable skills in fish breeding techniques. Following the catfish session, Ms. Ave Joy C. Ramos provided practical training on tilapia grow-out, where the participants learned the importance of pond fertilization, proper handling and feeding, and the different equipment used in pond monitoring, among others. The training highlights the importance of providing retiring military personnel with practical skills and livelihood opportunities. By equipping them with aquaculture knowledge, the program aims to empower former personnel with the tools they need to establish their fish farming ventures for their post-military careers. #LifeBelowWater #SievingForExecellence
